will a friendly abandoned feline 2 yrs old get along with a 10 year old declawed feline?

found a friendly abandoned cat as she followed all the neighbors around and every time i put out food, she wanted to come in the house making a b line to the front door trying to come in. It broke my heart but with halloween and cold weather, i thought i did the best thing by bringing her to local shelter, and while they are a friendly and clean to the point of how clean a shelter can be, she is doing ok, but i am so sad i had to take her there. I want to take her in my home, but my 10 year old, declawed on all 4 and hardly any teeth, a rescue, has been with me for 5 years and is spoiled and in the past, had a reputation of not getting along with other cats from the man I got her from. What do I do? It is breaking my heart but I am afraid of the stress it will cause cat no. 1 and I don't have a lot of time except on weekends to monitor them. Thanks, Cathy
RESPONSE:
The decision is completely up to you whether you bring in the female or not. She may do fine with your guy as he is much older now and she will likely stay out of his way. We would keep her of course but that is what we do and we just can't tell you what is right for you. The decision is entirely yours.
