struvite bladder stones in cat

my cat has struvite stone. does anyone have experience with hills s/d diet in attempting to dissolve these stones?

RESPONSE:

Stone formation in cats is a chronic problem so diet change is a good idea. However, we don't have any faith in any of the Hill's diets so we don't use them. The few times in the past when we have tried them, it was impossible to get the cat (any cat!) to eat it. So, we don't know how well Hill's works for urinary stone formation.
On the rare occasion that we get a cat that has problems with struvite stones, along with the raw meat food we give them, we use a product called Urinary Support for Cats by Pet Naturals of Vermont. It has worked well for struvite stones and the recurring urinary infections that go along with stone formation. Try it if the Hill's doesn't seem to help.
