Sleeping on my clothes

by Aisa

Hey,

My cat loves to sleep on my family’s clothing and I can't figure out why! Dirty on the floor or clean and folded on the bed, as long as she can get to it she will sleep on it.
Can you help explain this? Thanks.

RESPONSE:

Can you blame her! Your clothes, clean or dirty, remind her of her family! This behavior touches on a cat's inherent need to make a "nest" or bed by building up grasses etc. to form a sort of bowl for a safe and comfortable place to sleep.
Also, they smell familiar and comforting to her - and sometimes they are especially warm!
If you want to stop the behavior, keep the dirty clothes picked up and the clean clothes put away. Otherwise, let her indulge a little!
