sisters

I have a pair of sisters who have been best buddys all there life. the got fixed at the same time and now they are 2 years old and act like they want to kill each other. I have a large cage and put the bully in the cage . The younger sister wants to hang out under the bed. today I have closed the bedroom door to see what the little one whould do and she is watching the big sister grow at her what can I do

RESPONSE:

The sisters are just reaching full maturity at this age. Picking on each other is common during this time when they are establishing dominence. Increase their play time, provide treats when they are behaving and otherwise, just let them work things out on their own. And don't lock up one where the other can see them. This actually increases the tension between them. If you have to lock one of them up, make sure they are secluded and cannot see or be seen by the other cat. Over time, things will calm down but right now, their behavior is purr-fectly natural.
