RELENTLESS MEOWING

by Cheryl
(New York)

My cat is an indoor cat but if my kids are outside playing, he meows at the sliding glass doors until they come inside. Once they camped out in the back yard and he did not stop meowing until 3:00 a.m. Even if we shut the blinds, he does this. We can't put him in a closed room because even though he is declawed in front, he scratches at the door. Any suggestions?

RESPONSE:

He wants to participate in the activities. Try playing with him initially when the kids go outside. Play until he is tired. After play, give him some treats. Hopefully, after play and treats, he will forget about the kids outside and take a nap. Let us know how this works.
