More Pictures of Kittens and Cats - New Arrivals to Our Cat Sanctuary

Here are more pictures of kittens and cats that have recently arrived to our sanctuary. Currently, our total number of resident kittens and cats stands at: 31!

Scroll to the bottom to meet our newest arrivals!

Penny, along with Ruby and Wendy were found in a box on our porch one day when we came home after running errands - no note, nothing! We assume they are siblings. While we prefer people talk to us before dropping off cats, we are grateful that at least someone thought enough of them to see they would be cared for. They went to the vet and were treated for various parasites (fleas, ear mites, worms, etc.) and, aside from being dirty, they seem to be in good health. They are quite friendly and have obviously been around people. We will care for them until they are old enough to be spayed then see about adoption. Until then, we are just enjoying them!

Meet Penny! Penny is about 3 months old. She is a light grey tabby with traditional golden eyes. She is very sweet and loves snuggling up in our laps or on our bed with us. She has a great appetite and enjoys everything we give her to eat! And she has a big, round "kitten belly" to prove it!

This is little Ruby! She is the smallest of the 3 weighing in at 3 pounds 11 ounces. She is all black with expressive yellow eyes. She is very curious and likes to follow us around the house. She seems to have taken a shine to Murry and tends to follow him too. At night, both Ruby and Murry snuggle together on the bed right between our pillows - which is Murry's favorite spot. When Ruby gets bigger, we figure the 2 of them will start trying to kick us out of our own bed so they have more room!

Meet Wendy! She is the only long hair in the group. She is white with brownish/grey tabby patches and big yellow eyes. She is quite vocal and "talks" to us all the time. She is very curious and is always getting into everything! Wendy just loves attention and vocally demands attention non-stop until we give it to her! She is going to grow up to be a beautiful, affectionate cat.

Meet ??? - This little guy was orphaned when he was only a few days old. Since he needed to be bottle fed, our vet asked if we would be willing to take him in. How could we say no! He weighed only 4 ounces and had some difficulty with the bottle at first. We were very worried he would not survive! But he finally got the hang of things, started putting on weight, opened his eyes, learned to walk and now he is into everything! He has made best friends with Ruby and they play together often. He weighs over a pound now and is just learning to eat from a dish! Soon, we will have to give him a proper name!

UPDATE

We have named him Jerry! He is active, playful, and into everything! He now weighs 2.1 pounds and since learning to eat from a dish he has decided that everything is his to eat. He has been to the vet for his first shots and has been deemed healthy! He is already completely spoiled and we just love him!

We have also taken in 3 boys and 1 girl about the same age as Jerry so he has "siblings" to play with now!

Meet Spencer and Samantha!

Spencer and Samantha were found living by themselves in the bushes along the side of a road. Dirty, flea infested, and very skinny, we rescued them and brought them home. We cleaned them up, fed them, (they both ate like little piggies!) and had them checked out by our vet. Both were pretty healthy considering how they had been living and we determined they were about 5 weeks old.

Spencer is a black and white, short-haired male. He is very sweet and loves to play in the kitty yard with the big cats. But every night he picks a comfy spot on the bed to sleep for the night. He is very friendly and gets on well with everybody.

Samantha, a pretty calico female, is very out-going and into everything! She seems to have no fear. Since discovering how good the homemade raw meat cat food is, she quickly learned how to get up on the counter to the food prep area and starts eating right out of the container. We really have to watch out for her because she likes to get right in the microwave or sink full of hot water so she can get to the food while it's warming! Nothing is safe from this curious little girl!

Meet Jasper and Joey!

Jasper and Joey were rescued from a local Home Depot by a good samaritan. These 2 brothers, along with 2 other siblings were living under a pallet of plants outside the store. When an employee began watering the plants, the 4 soaked little kittens came running out from under the pallet, scared to death! The other 2 kittens were taken by another cat lover at the store and Jasper and Joey were brought to us. We determined the boys were about 4 weeks old and after a visit to the vet, they were deemed healthy!

Jasper is slightly larger than his brother and is very affectionate! He loves to lay on someone's lap and receive endless petting. He already enjoys being brushed! Being completely black, it is impossible to see him at night (which is why we always walk around with a flashlight or put lights on before we take a step!). His favorite place to lounge is on one of the cat trees on the screened-in porch.

Joey is the smallest brother. He is also all black except for a small white "star" on his chest. He loves being around people and can always be found sleeping at someone's feet. Though he is small for his age, he has a big voice, especially at mealtimes! He mews and mews loudly until he gets his dinner! His favorite meal is Fancy Feast Gourmet Chicken and he will growl to keep the others away from his food. He even growls at the big cats that try to eat from his plate!

Both boys are settling in nicely and are very happy to have a dry place to sleep!

MEET HANNA!

Meet our newest addition - Hanna! One evening, while doing our daily walk around the kitty yard, we kept hearing a kitten crying - loudly crying for help! Armed with only a flashlight, we checked on all our cats and kittens and everyone seemed fine. We kept following the sound and finally spotted a tiny kitten on the other side of the fence, crying desperately for help from deep in the bushes! We ran quickly from the kitty yard, around the house, up the street and, flashlight in hand, scrambled down the slippery hillside, calling out to the poor kitten. Thankfully, she kept crying so we could find her. Spotting her with the flashlight, we finally reached her and scooped her up, talking quietly trying to comfort her. She immediately started purring! She continued purring as we struggled back up the hillside, slipping and sliding, kitten cradled in one arm and flashlight in the other. Once inside the house, we checked her over and she seemed unharmed. Once we picked all of the foxtails out of her fur (and off ourselves!) we gave her some food and she ate like a champ! After much cuddling and visiting, we settled her down in the bathroom for the night! The next day, we let her out and she set about introducing herself to the other cats and kittens. She seemed quite healthy and, because she was so friendly and obviously accustomed to people, we knew someone had cared for her and figured she was probably lost. We put up signs and waited but no one has come forward to claim her. So, we named her Hanna, took her to the vet who gave her a clean bill of health, and started her vaccines. We believe that possibly, whoever had her could no longer care for her and dumped her near us knowing we would take her in and care for her. They could have asked. We would have gladly taken her in - she's a doll. Hanna loves petting, brushing and attention. She follows us around watching everything we do and has claimed a window perch in the living room as hers. She has settled in well with the other kittens, Spencer, Samantha, Jasper, Joey, and Jerry, and they play together all the time. We are happy to have her as part of our family and grateful she was smart enough to call for help and that we found her before something terrible happened to her!
