Meet the Family! - Pictures of Cats and Kittens

Here is where you will find pictures of cats and kittens we have been blessed with over the years. Some are still with us, some were adopted into good homes, and some we have lost because of illness or old age.

Along with the pictures, we also tell a bit about each of our little ones, their personality, favorite things, and how they came to be with us. We get pictures of each one as soon as they arrive and, if they end up staying with us, we update their photos as they grow.

If you would like to know more about any of the cats pictured here, please feel free to contact us with your questions or comments. We would love to hear from you and we promise to pass on any compliments directly to the special kitty who receives it!

Buddy

Buddy is 2 years old. He was found as a kitten of about 8 or 10 weeks old. He was very sick and his little face was so crusted up with drainage that he couldn't open his eyes or smell anything. His breathing was noisy and labored and he was very thin. Without intervention he surely would have died. We took him in and gave him the medical care and TLC he needed. He still has breathing problems at times but has really done well. He is active, playful and very loving. His favorite toy is Da Bird, a fishing pole type cat toy. He will play till exhaustion if we let him and we have to hide it where he can't get at it or he'd steal it and run off with it!

Lily

Lily is 4 years old now. We found her as a kitten in a shelter, scheduled to be euthanized, because of overcrowding. She was tiny, shy, and still had to be hand fed. As you can see, she has grown into a beautiful cat. She sleeps with us - on us actually - every night. She loves to lay in someone's lap for endless petting or brushing sessions. She is very dainty and lady-like in everything she does. Her nickname is 'Lilybug'. No one remembers how she got it but she seems to enjoy being called by it.

Little Girl

This is Abby (aka: Little Girl). She was a stray that decided to give birth to her babies in our yard. She was very nervous around us but after a bit of coaxing and some good food, she decided we were OK and moved right in. She was spayed as soon as the kittens were weaned and now lives a life of contentment. She is still fairly shy and doesn't like being held but she always licks us when we pet her. She is around 3 years old.

Marty

Marty came to us as one of 3 siblings that were left in a box on our doorstep when they were only a few weeks old. He was very shy and fearful of us. If we just glanced in his direction he would run like his tail was on fire! Now, at a year old, after months of TLC and gentle patience, he has become very sweet and loves being petted. After a nap, he always comes to check on us and when we look at him, he looks right back and gives us a silent meow (which is just too cute!).

Tabby

Tabby (aka: Tabitha) was the runt of Abby's litter. She was so tiny that the other kittens would often squeeze her out of her spot while nursing. Once on solid foods, we gave her smaller, more frequent meals and distracted the other kittens so they wouldn't steal all her food. Now, at a year old, she is still on the small side but has no trouble getting her fair share of food and attention! She has the tiniest, breathy little meow we've ever heard. We really have to listen or we miss what she says!

Freddie

Freddie, also one of Abby's, is a year old. He was the last of the kittens to eat solid food. He has since made up for it - he now weighs a solid 12 1/2 pounds! His tail was broken before he came to us and remains bent at the tip. He loves 'helping' us brush our teeth and sleeps at the foot of our bed. He always meows for permission before hopping up on the bed. We didn't teach him that, he is just naturally polite!

Missy

We took in Missy and her 4 kittens when the elderly couple she lived with could no longer care for her. We adopted out all of the kittens but kept Missy. She loves her brushing sessions and would make us brush her all day if she could! She loves to lay out in the kitty paddock enjoying the sunshine. At 14, she recently developed arthritis in her hindlegs and hips. She can't jump anymore so we set up steps and ramps so she can still get up to her favorite high places.

Calle

Calle is also one of Abby's. At 1 year old, she is very sweet and outgoing. She likes people and is a real chatter bug! She 'talks' to us all the time and stares at us until we respond. She seems to enjoy conversation despite the fact that we have no idea what she is saying. As long as we talk to her when she talks to us she's happy. She also enjoys a good snuggle and purr! At night, she likes to sleep on the pillows we sleep on. If we turn our head during the night, we risk getting a face full of fur!

Chloe

Also one of Abby's, at a year old, Chloe is just beautiful. She has very expressive blue eyes and looks like a Siamese. She loves to lay on laps for endless petting. She purrs, kneads, and gives little 'love bites' on our arms. If we stop petting, she meows and chirps at us until we start petting her again. She enjoys sitting on her favorite cat tree on the sun porch watching the other cats play in the paddock. She is a real sweetie!

Herbie

Herbie (one of Abby's) is a real charmer! Friendly and outgoing, he likes to be wherever we are 'supervising' our activities. He has a very cute and expressive face. He gets quite talkative when he is waiting for a meal. We figure he is telling us to hurry up! He is very friendly with the other cats but Murry is his best buddy. They often sleep together. Herbie also loves catching bugs in the kitty paddock - especially moths! If it flies - he jumps for it!

Murry

We refer to Murry as our 'Baby Boy'. He was brought to us along with 2 siblings when they were only about 2 weeks old. (Someone had tried to drown them!) We were unable to save his siblings but, at 2 years old, Murry has grown into a handsome and affectionate boy. We initially thought there might have been some damage to his vocal cords because he never made a sound. Then, one day, on the way to the vet for his annual check-up, he started meowing his displeasure - loudly! That is the only time we ever heard him speak. He loves to snuggle and his favorite game is fetching paper balls.

Kelsey

Kelsey, at age 15, is our most senior citizen. She was a shelter rescue. Born with malformed hip joints, her back end tends to wobble making her rear end fall sideways when she walks. Despite this, she was very active in her youth. Now, she is spending her golden years mostly sleeping in her favorite spot on the back of our couch. We put a nice, soft blanket there for her and she loves to knead it. At night, she still likes sleeping on the bed with us.

Barney

Barney, brother to Marty and Louie, was found in a box on our doorstep. He is very active and outgoing, constantly on the move. He never just walks anywhere, he always sort of trots. When getting petted, he rolls around and just wiggles and wiggles. He has even wiggled so much that he has fallen off the bed! He hops right back up though to give it another go! He loves giving us head butts and laying outside in the sun. A real pig with meals, we have to be careful he doesn't overeat.

Louie

Louie is brother to Barney and Marty. He is very talkative but seems to only make one meow sound for everything. He likes stopping by frequently during the day for a quick conversation and pet but doesn't like to snuggle until bed time. At night, he likes to curl up in the crook of someone's legs and doesn't move until morning when everyone gets up. He also loves bug catching in the paddock.

Sophie

Sophie is 6 years old and very lucky to be alive! As a kitten, she got trapped inside the body of a car during the heat of summer. We ended tearing apart our friend's car to get her out. She was suffering from dehydration and mild heat exhaustion. No worse for her ordeal, she grew into a beautiful young lady. Shy around strangers, she is very loving with us. She chirps at us when we come into a room she is in and loves to snuggle with us under the bed covers.

Frankie

Frankie (one of Abby's) is very loving but a bit of a loner. He doesn't like to snuggle but loves rubbing on us. He has been intolerant of being held but we have been working on it. He will now tolerate being held but only if the one holding him is walking. As soon as we stop walking, he wants down. He loves being outdoors and spends most of his time out in the paddock, on top of the tallest cat tree, surveying his 'kingdom'.

Misty

Misty is one of our successful adoptions. Brought to us as a small kitten, we provided care and socialization and at 12 weeks of age, she was adopted into a nice home as companion to another cat. They immediately took to one another and at 2 years old, we've been told that she and her older 'sister' are the best of friends!

Katie

This little cutie was named Katie by her adoptive family. She is 3 years old now and the family has since moved away but we recently received a card from them saying that she has adjusted nicely to her new home.

As 'kitten Season' approaches, we have no doubt that we will be adding more pictures of cats and kittens to our family.
