(Phoenix, AZ)

We adopted a 2 year old cat "Keeper" and introduced him slowly to the other 8 cats by segregating him from the others for a couple of weeks. This process has worked on prior occasions but with Keeper, once he was released,he won't socialize with the others and alwayus stays on a chair in the dining room. Most of the others could care less but a couple of them either try to play or harass him. He is affectionate with us and comes out for petting, but as soon as one of the "troublemakers" comes near, he retreats to his chair. Help!

RESPONSE:

Try playing with him more to help build his confidence. Otherwise, just let him be. He feels safe in his chair so trying to take that away from him would be cruel. He will eventually get more comfortable but for Keeper, it will take more time. Just be patient!
