newbees

by shirlee
(london)

hi guys thanks for the web very informative. Im a cat collector:) and have a newbee in the house,i thought my other 3 would have been better behaved, honey the eldest (14 years young) queenie (9 years) and a one years old rescue pickle. in steps cheeky 6months old shadow, none of them have taken to my newbee i thought that things might have settled with lots of nice food, flower remadies, petting etc we are expecting another at the end of the month and would like them all to be friends. a lot of the behaviour is from the eldest two hissing groweling, chasing each other, attacking etc.
can you give me any suggestions:(

RESPONSE:

Hissing and acting out are normal behaviors for older cats when kittens are around. They know they shouldn't attack the kitten so they turn their frustrations on each other. Kittens have boundless energy so keep the little one busy with play and toys so Pickles will not bother the older cats so much. Only time will improve things.
