my male cat is a bullie

by sheila
(florida)

I have 4cats. Three males (12yrs),(6yrs),(1yr) and a 7 yr old female. The older male has been urinating on clothes that are left on the floor or a towel or a laundry basket full of clothes. The 6 yr old male just backs the 12 yr old cat into the corner. The 12 yr old male cowers in the corner and hisses. The 6yr old male is a lover, but he tries to intimadate the 12 yr old. All in all the cats get along fine. Any suggestions to stop the urinating?

RESPONSE:

Your 12yo is upset and is urinating as a way of comforting himself. The 6yo is being a bully. Try using Peacemaker and Bully Remedy from Spirit Essences to help balance thing out a bit better. Add more play time and positive attention for all of them. Feeder balls may help to give the 6yo something else to do besides pick on the 12yo. Keep things picked up and use Smells-No-More from Planet Urine on anything washable that has been peed on to get out the urine smell. (There are links to Spirit Essence and Planet Urine on our links page and you can order the feeder balls through our Cat Supply store.)
Be sure there are plenty of cubbies and high up places for the cats to get away from each other and be at peace. Grooming will also help calm their stress.
Unfortunately, this is perfectly normal behavior. The key is to direct their energies to more plesant activities!
Good Luck and Be Patient!
