Ingredients safe for a Male Cat's Bladder?

by melodee williams
(Molalla, Oregon USA)

I want to feed all my kitties like you do, in three sep. bowls of the Chicken Soup For The Pet Lovers Soul/ free feed. My schedule is just to busy. I also love the chicken soup dog food for my dog and have had him on it for years, plus homemade added.

I noticed there isn't a Magnesium level stated on the ingredient list.
I was told to really look at that level for males in dry foods.
My one kitty has tendencies for bladder infections, so I'm concerned.
I don't want another issue. The last one cost almost $1000.00!!!
Seriously.

Please give me your opinion. I really want to put all of them on that kind of dry food, plus homemade additions.

Thanks!

RESPONSE:

We emailed the company some time ago to ask this very question! They told us the magnesium level in the adult dry was 0.1% which is considered low.
With urinary problems, dry is not the best food to feed. They need more water to dilute the urine and some cats can get dehydrated with concentrated urine if they eat only dry.
Our cats get the dry but also homemade and canned to help insure they get sufficient water. No food can guarantee you cat will never again get a urinary problem however, if you insist on a dry food, the Chicken Soup is a good choice for low magnesium dry cat food.
