Female spraying

by Shaun Hoag
(Pleasant Valley, New York, U.S.A.)

I have a female cat, who was fixed. She is about 2 years old, and was the only cat in the house. I recently adopted 2, one year old, male cats, who are both fixed as well. They seem to get along fine, with minimal bickering. Recently, my female has been "marking" her territory in the house. The concern is, there is blood with these "markings". She looks like she is using the bathroom, but is spraying blood on walls. What is this all about? and what can I do to solve this problem? also, is this a health concern for her?

RESPONSE:

Take her to the vet! She likely has a urinary tract infection and her spraying has nothing to do with the boys. Get her checked out ASAP!
