Cats Geting Diarrhea

by alyssa
(ny amarica ny)

What should you do when your cat gets diarrhea?

RESPONSE:

Determine the cause of the diarrhea. The most likely cause is poor quality food but it can also be caused by internal parasites, gastritis, or a serious illness such as liver or kidney disease. An examination by a vet is warranted. Bring a stool sample for testing.
Once you know the cause you can treat the diarrhea. If no disease or parasite infection is found, it is likely the food. Read our section on Best Cat Food to learn how to choose the best cat food for your cat.
A loose stool now and then is nothing to worry about but loose, watery stools, especially when accompanied by loss of bowel control can lead to dehydration and malnutrition. Not to mention a very unhappy cat! And owner!
Get the cat check by your vet then, once you know the cause, you can fix the problem!
