I understand!
by: Kate

Dear folks, I work at an animal rescue. We foster cats in our home. We just had to take one back because she fought with our other cats for no reason. They just wanted to play, but she hated them all. When she began pooping on the floor, we thought she was ill. The vet could find nothing wrong. With sadness we realized she is happier at the shelter-it is "open"-cats roam freely in a large room, not in cages.(unless they are ill.)
It hurts to admit not every creature of God will flourish at your home. And you try so hard!
It is OK to find them a new home! You are NOT a bad person! God bless.

cats don't change
by: Anonymous

It's been about six months now since two adorable kittens adopted me. My already cranky Ned, a male cate of eleven years attacks the smaller cats if he sees them. I've kept them successfully separated knowing that my twenty lb cat will attack the tweens. I've overfed the younger cats and they are 15 lbs, the larger cat has lost about 4 lbs but I still don't like violence. I have no clue what to do, I don't want to put the older cat down because he's my son's beloved pet.

RESPONSE:

Ned is just too old to deal with younsters - it's not his fault. Try play with the young ones and give the younsters and Ned treats when they are all in the same room together. Sometimes, cat fussing looks and sounds like major fighting but more often than not, it's all noise and bluster. Sometimes you just have to let them slap each other around before they calm down and start tolerating each other.

CATS

Oh my goodness, I certainly can relate to this story about Emma and Eddie. I am going through the same thing right now at my house. My female Maggie is about 3 years old. I brought another cat Buffy into my house in Otober. Buffy is 5 years old and the sweetest cat ever. Maggie hates Buffy and I have done everything I possibly can to get her to like him but nothing is working. I have tried to carrier thing, separated them, carried their scents to one another and nothing is working still. Maggie will attack buffy brutally and I refuse to let either one of them get hurt. I am actually going to speak with a Pet Communicator next week in hopes that she will help me out.....I sure hope she can! Good luck with Emma and Eddie, I certainly kow the feeling. It kind also get very stressful closing doors and transferring one cat to one room and one to another. It is nerve racking.
