Cat Treat options?

Many 'training' information for cats includes giving them a treat. Also, treats are used to encourage play (treat balls, peek and play boxes, etc.). The first ingredient in most commercial treats is chicken. Patsy is allergic to chicken (he gets ear infections).

For a long time, he just refused all commercial treats so giving them to Bali wasn't a problem. But about a month ago, he just started eating them (and since I forgot about the chicken thing, he ended up with scabs on his ears from scratching).

So, I'm looking for options for traditional cat treats I can use for play in particular. He likes cheese so I have lactose-free cheese for him for that occassional treat and to keep him away from Bali's (which she still gets til I run out), but I can't leave cheese in a peek-and-play box.

I would appreciate any suggestions you have.

RESPONSE:

Look for treats made from fish. Some excellent freeze-dried fish treats are POGOS. Our cats just love them - so much so that we have to hide them in a sealed container in a locked cupboard or they will eat them all! The website is

Try them - your kitties will love you for them!
