Okay, so, I too have an 'open door' policy as for as the kitty goes. And, for the most part...lets me sleep. He comes and goes as he pleases. Well, he just started an NEW and annoying pattern. And, that's pawing at the bathroom door. And, in turn, THAT wakes me up. The bathroom is outside my door and in the hall but it still wakes me. I'm trying the spraying w/ water and the loud NO. But, he's keeping on. And, before the bathroom door, it was my roommates. And, he's not allowed in either. I almost need a sprayer that's on a sensor!
RESPONSE:
They do make a device that is on a sensor and sprays air. It is called Ssscat and you can get it from PetsMart and other places. It has a sensor on it that when triggered sprays compressed air that sound like a hiss and startles the cat. This works pretty good as a deterrent. Just set it outside the door you wnat to discourage the cat from and let it do it's thing. It is worth a try!
