Boys are now flipping their water dishes

Hi again Donna,
Things have been going along so well with our two boy and two girls that I thought we were out of the woods. Not so! Now the 7-month old boys, Bruno and Voltaire, have both started digging into and flipping their water bowls! Each morning, we have huge puddles to clean up in the landing and kitchen (they have several feeding/watering stations throughout the house). So far, they haven't flipped the one in our bedroom (thankfully!).
Thinking that they were seeing and attacking their reflections, we switched from stainless steel bowls to ceramic. No such luck - they're still doing it. I wrote earlier about the digging, which seemed to subside for a while, until they decided to become water babies!
Thanks again, Donna, for all of your help with our multicat household.
take care,
Natalie
RESPONSE
Your boys get bored at night and tipping the water bowls is their new way to have fun! (Hope your rolls of toilet paper are protected!) Get heavy, (heavy as possible) ceramic bowls with a flat bottom and don't put them on a mat or anything. The ones we use are made for big dogs.
Also, give them some toys to play with at night.
Yeoww! Bananas, Crazy Cat Circle, fuzzy mice and feeder balls are good for solitary play. You can find all of these and more in our store. Click on the Cat Supply and More link on the left and browse through our selection of Cool Cat Toys. Also try some interactive play before you go to bed. Your boys are simply expending some youthful energies while you sleep and the water bowls are their latest form of entertainment! Don't worry, they will grow out of it...and find something else to do that drives you crazy! In the meantime, enjoy their antics and keep lots of towels handy!
